There has been some increasing debate about using the internet for information versus the internet. People of all ages are beginning to rely on the internet for their information needs. But the question is if this is the better source for information. Libraries have been around for many years and they hold so much valuable information about many things about everything. But the internet can do the same this. Which is the better source for information?
McNeese State University has a web page discussing the pros and cons of using a computer versus using a library to gather information. Each of them has their advantages and disadvantages. An advantage of the internet is that it is up to date. It is also easy to access. A disadvantage would be that very disorganized searches come from using the internet. There also is no way to check for the accuracy of the information and usually it is more difficult to find older information online. An advantage of using the library is that all of the information is set up in a very organized system. Librarians are very willing to help with any searches and information that is only in print copies can be found here. Disadvantages are that the library is only open certain hours during the day and that materials must be returned to the library. I personally think that using the library is more successful than using the internet. I have had many unsuccessful searches for information using the internet and I have found that books never fail when it comes to finding the information you need.
